for about 20 years, and she was speaking for herself.
She worked with Linda Patelski and observed “many things
that bothered me over the years.”
She said:
However, the most frustrating to me was the lack of enforcement of animal….
You know, this went on for a long time time and we were all very frustrated.
And so we finally decided that the only way to improve enforcement
was to strengthen animal control laws….
So the Human Society was very interested in strenghtening those laws.
And I think the animal control ordinances now are [better].
However, enforcement is still an issue.

Sheriff Prine was at last night’s
budget hearing (his office accounts for more of the county
budget than anything else).
Afterwards I asked him how matters such as the complaints about
the animal shelter could be brought to the attention of his office.
He said that was a code enforcement matter, and if code enforcement
thought it rose to a criminal matter, they would take it to Magistrate
Court, which would issue a warrant, which would go to the Sheriff’s office,
where it would be pursued.
These are the open records that me and another animal control officer
sent to GDA
and I also have Amanda Jordans Statement if you would like
that. Please excuse some of the language in my statement she (pat smith
GDA inspector) told me to write it like it was said….
For whatever it is worth, I do not know of any local elected officials
that support the T-SPLOST in its’ current form. Chairman Paulk is right
on target with his comments.

Have you seen these proposed projects for our region if the transportation
tax is passed? A few meetings have been held in local cities, mostly
attended by elected officials with Ashley Paulk as the chair of our

Sir,
I hope your day is going well. I’m spending half this afternoon with the
dentist getting a permanent crown installed and the other half with my
wife’s kidney doctor. Life must truck on regardless of the Foxborough
McDonalds issue.
Sir, twice I made statements to you in regards to County Engineer,
Mr. Mike Fletcher. I now wish to present my position in writing. My
first statement was during our first phone conversation on 18 May
2011. During that conversation I rather colorfully stated
Mr. Quarterman, what can we do, do we have to go to the state legislature
to get a law passed to force these so-called public officials to answer
questions and respond to the citizens?
First of all, my compliments to anyone such as Leigh Touchton
who has been doing politics around here longer than me for asking
my opinion, because that indicates they are pretty good at it
and are probably asking many people their opinions.
My answer: carrots along with sticks, and shine some light!
That all builds political capital, which will be needed for elections.
We need many people building a community doing many things.
If I knew a simple answer that would change things magically overnight,
I’d recommend it, but I don’t.
I don’t even know if I know a long answer, but I’m pretty sure that
any answer will require a community, because

Ashley Paulk said he is code enforcement!
Let’s go back a year to the rezoning of Old Pine Road on 8 June 2010,
as an example of how some things fit together around here.
First a bit more about lot size, and then code enforcement and traffic.
Commissioner Richard Lee wanted to know if Coy Brightwell
was the spokesperson for the people against.
Brightwell said some others would also speak,
but R-10 was the closest to a quarter acre lot, and that’s what they
were for.

I was at
the last LOWNDES COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MEETING when
Chairman Ashley Paulk shared information about the Biomass Project
extension being denied and the alleged secrecy surrounding keeping the
general public ignorant.
“Because certain people won’t share with you and I think it’s
unfair. We were approached about three weeks ago, Mr. (Joe) Pritchard
(County Manager) was, by the Industrial Authority, and we were tentatively
asked to make a move to ask that they not extend the contract.”
