Videos: PUD setback, road access, and building variances @ ZBOA 2016-04-05

LAKE videos of the four Lowndes County cases before ZBOA. There was some discussion about VAR-2016-04 Joshua Restoration Ranch (5808 McDonald Road), which is about road access for a group/family personal care home. One was already withdrawn by the applicant: VAR-2016-03 Southers (1290 Southers Lane). The other two are about minimum building setbacks and road access. Thanks to ZBOA member Gretchen Quarterman, the entire board packet is on the LAKE website, and here’s the agenda.

ZBOA makes actual decisions, unlike the Planning Commission, which only recommends. Here’s a video playlist:

Videos: Crosspointe Church @ ZBOA 2016-02-02

In a split decision with a condition, they approved their one case, VAR-2016-01 (CrossPointe Church, Valdosta GA), with all members present for the Zoning Board of Appeals. Not clear what are the buffer or landscape requirements they want a variance from. If ZBOA published its board packets online, we all would be able to see that. Same issue as for Lowndes County Commission, Valdosta City Council, and the other four cities in the county. They did not approve minutes of their previous meeting, and still no decision on name badges. The meeting took only 45 minutes.

Agenda below, with results from ZBOA’s own Meeting Results Summary, followed by the LAKE video. Continue reading

Videos: Cemetery again, sewer, billboards, dwelling, parking @ ZBOA 2016-01-05

The Zoning Board of Appeals last Tuesday denied > the proposed cemetery: it turned out not only neighbors didn’t want it, many of the family members didn’t, either. Here is the LAKE video of the entire meeting, including the return of the name badges (still undecided), and some new cases ( sign variance denied in an unusual three-way split vote, house variance approved, and parking approved with conditions), including another Valdosta sanitary sewer variance (approved with conditions). First, ZBOA’s own summary of the votes, then the video.

Cell tower, cemetery, sewer, and radio tower @ ZBOA 2015-12-01

Two ZBOA agenda items for tomorrow are also on the Planning Commission agenda for tonight: the Withlacoochee River Wastewater Treatment Plant and the radio tower Snake Nation Press for WSNK-LP, Valdosta Community Radio. Apparently both of these applicants want a variance from ZBOA in addition to a conditional use permit.

Verizon wants a variance in Hahira for a cell tower and the Lucas Brothers want a cemetery variance.

Videos: Billboard and building locations @ ZBOA 2015-05-05

Last month, Unscheduled: Laverne Gaskins announced she did not want to be reappointed to ZBOA. Fairway got to put its billboard back up at the new overpass, but only at 50 feet high. Plus in the county, a building location variance and a Family Ties variance were both approved unanimously. They meet again today at 2:30PM. Continue reading

Videos: Baseball and water; electric sign withdrawn @ ZBOA 2015-04-07

They’re meeting again today, and last month the baseball diamond west of Hahira was approved with conditions 4-1. The water connection variance on Jumping Gully Road, was approved 5-0, and the electric company parking variance on Norman Drive, tabled the previous month, was withdrawn by applicant (before the meeting), all according to ZBOA’s own Summary of Results.
