Finally VLCIA meets in its new office near the hospital.
Georgia Power VP Terri Lupo

was just appointed to VLCIA by the Lowndes County Commission
(without ever showing up and speaking).
On this VLCIA agenda is the annually expected officer nominating committee report.
Plus “Proposed VLCIA Name Change”.
How about SolarTown?

Hm, this move uptown leaves their old building to

Sabal Trail and its proposed fracked methane pipeline.
Has VLCIA ever developed an opinion on that boondoggle?

Budget Hearing is 5PM Tuesday 24 June 2014, just before the Regular Session.

But first, at
the Monday morning Work and Tuesday evening Regular Sessions,
4 appointments to 3 boards,
and four obscure For Consideration items about a grant,
a schedule,
a contract,
and a landfill public hearing that may or may not be the one of the

public notice already posted for 17 July 2014.

Seven Out Superfund Assessment Public Meeting @ GA EPD 2014-07-17



6-8PM Thursday 17 July 2014

Memorial Stadium, 715 Dewey St., Waycross, GA 31501

The Environmental Protection Agency, GA Environmental Protection
Division, and Georgia Department of Public Health will be present to
discuss sample collection and results from the Seven Out Tank site
in downtown Waycross.

EPD will also be available to address issues and answer questions
regarding CSX.

The

Hahira Annexation request
was actually heard at

the Planning Commission meeting that started at the same time.
All the incumbents were reappointed to the


Hospital Authority
and the

shadowy Lowndes County Public Facilities Authority.
Both the road abandonments were approved, of

Old Statenville Road
and
of

Excess Right of Way on James Road and Riverside Road.
All that plus a

GEMA Sheltering Memorandum of Agreement
and a

beer license,
plus

Poll Manager Recognition.

The

blank page Budget Session
was at 9:30 AM after the Work Session, all the same day as this Regular Session.

When are the two Budget Public Hearings? –John S. Quarterman @ LCC 2014-05-27

We can’t see the draft budget before the Public Hearings, said the Chairman,
answering my question after

the Lowndes County Commission Regular Session of 27 May 2014.

After congratulating the Chairman on recognizing the poll workers,
Crawford Powell for recusing himself on an appointment of himself,
and the Commission for the recent Budget Sessions,
I asked:

  1. When are the two Public Hearings required by state law before adoption of the budget?
  2. When is the second Budget Session
    mentioned in
    the Budget Session held earlier that same day?
  3. Where is the draft budget on the county’s website so the public can see it before the public hearings?

Twice the acreage than solar for Sabal Trail pipeline to produce the same power @ FERC 2014-03-05


According to Sabal Trail’s own numbers, twice as much land for
the entire three-pipeline Spectra -> Sabal -> FSC proposed gouge
through three states
as would be required to produce as much solar power.

Videos: Regional water council meeting in Valdosta @ SSRWPC 2014-05-21



Anticipating water and wastewater needs,
coordinating with Florida and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,
comparing water usage to available resources in the face of droughts,
floods, and climate change,
Georgia’s regional water management council for this area
considered all this and more when it met
in Valdosta to finalize a document:
Regional Assessment of Implementation Status.
