One case at ZBOA today at 2:30 PM, a variance on parking spaces for Greenleaf Hospital so it can add a new wing. Tax Parcels Aerial A ZBOA member (Gretchen) provided the packet materials, which are all on the LAKE website.

Crunk Engineering, on behalf of Greenleaf Hospital, is requesting a variance to LDFl Section 222-2 as it pertains to the number of spaces for a hospital. The subject property is zoned Residential Professional (RP) and consists of 6.35 acres located at 2209 Pineview Drive. The subject property contains a 36,968 psychiatric/substance abuse hospital.

Videos: Crosspointe Church @ ZBOA 2016-02-02

In a split decision with a condition, they approved their one case, VAR-2016-01 (CrossPointe Church, Valdosta GA), with all members present for the Zoning Board of Appeals. Not clear what are the buffer or landscape requirements they want a variance from. If ZBOA published its board packets online, we all would be able to see that. Same issue as for Lowndes County Commission, Valdosta City Council, and the other four cities in the county. They did not approve minutes of their previous meeting, and still no decision on name badges. The meeting took only 45 minutes.

Videos: Cemetery again, sewer, billboards, dwelling, parking @ ZBOA 2016-01-05

The Zoning Board of Appeals last Tuesday denied > the proposed cemetery: it turned out not only neighbors didn’t want it, many of the family members didn’t, either. Here is the LAKE video of the entire meeting, including the return of the name badges (still undecided), and some new cases ( sign variance denied in an unusual three-way split vote, house variance approved, and parking approved with conditions), including another Valdosta sanitary sewer variance (approved with conditions). Cell tower, cemetery, sewer, and radio tower @ ZBOA 2015-12-01

Two ZBOA agenda items for tomorrow are also on the Planning Commission agenda for tonight: the Withlacoochee River Wastewater Treatment Plant and the radio tower Snake Nation Press for WSNK-LP, Valdosta Community Radio. Apparently both of these applicants want a variance from ZBOA in addition to a conditional use permit.

Verizon wants a variance in Hahira for a cell tower and the Lucas Brothers want a cemetery variance.

Building location, front yard, and flag size @ ZBOA 2015-09-01

2:30 PM today, building location next to Southview Cemetery, a front yard setback (my that’s an impressive porch!), and maximum size of a flag.

Videos: Moody Family Housing doesn’t want to replace trees it cut down on Val-Del @ ZBOA 2015-08-04

They meet again today 2:30 PM.

Last month, ZBOA voted 5 to 1 to let Moody Family Housing have a reduction of 25% (half of the 50% they wanted) so as to include a requirement of native trees. Gretchen Quarterman made the motion, Paul Alvarado seconded, and Satrina Plyler (filling the unexpired term of Scott Orenstein) voted against.

Moody Family Housing doesn’t want to replace trees it cut down on Val-Del @ ZBOA 2015-08-04

2:30 PM today, should developers not have to follow code and put back trees on the unnecessary and environmentally hazardous Moody Family Housing on Val-Del Road? You wouldn’t know who this was by a pretty name like Azalea Commons, or an acronym like ACC Group III Housing, and only the board packet mentions Balfour Beatty, but it’s the same Moody Family Housing in an aquifer recharge zone that already had a sinkhole as admitted by a K Street lawyer to the Lowndes County Commission and told to them and to the Air Force by VSU professors that the Air Force proceeded to ignore in its environmental assessment and the Lowndes County Commission rezoned anyway. Staff recommend 20% “relief” from planting trees. How about the county get some relief from unnecessary sprawl?

They did provide a table of the trees they want to cut down.
