Still invisible: the change to Valdosta’s Withlacoochee River Wastewater Treatment Plant. Documents related to all the other items are inked into the agenda in a previous post.

Valdosta packet items @ GLPC 2015-11-30

Within hours in response to an open records request she took over the telephone, Zoning Location Map Valdosta City Clerk Teresa Bolden sent PDF of the packet materials for the six Valdosta items for tonight’s GLPC meeting, at no charge, including all the maps. See below those six Valdosta items linked into a copy of agenda: a funeral home, a radio station, a church accessory, a community commercial rezoning, an amendment to a Planned Development, and City of Valdosta sign regulations changes.

The change to the Withlacoochee River Wastewater Treatment Plant remains invisible, because, since it’s in the Lowndes County part of the agenda, the City of Valdosta can’t divulge it. The materials for the county subdivision rezoning after the old US 41 N widening. and the Moody Activities Zones (MAZ) Text Amendments are also linked into the agenda below.

Cell tower, cemetery, sewer, and radio tower @ ZBOA 2015-12-01

Two ZBOA agenda items for tomorrow are also on the Planning Commission agenda for tonight: the Withlacoochee River Wastewater Treatment Plant and the radio tower Snake Nation Press for WSNK-LP, Valdosta Community Radio. Apparently both of these applicants want a variance from ZBOA in addition to a conditional use permit.

Verizon wants a variance in Hahira for a cell tower and the Lucas Brothers want a cemetery variance.

MAZ, Tillman Crossing, Withlacoochee River WWTP, 7 * Valdosta @ GLPC 2015-11-30

An invisible change to Valdosta’s Withlacoochee River Wastewater Treatment Plant. Already a subdivision rezoning after the old US 41 N widening. And still going in its third year, the Moody Activities Zones (MAZ) Text Amendments, with updates last week, including the Chamber’s latest position, all on top of the previous updates. Those are just the Lowndes County cases on the agenda tonight for the Greater Lowndes Planning Commission (GLPC).

The six Valdosta cases include a funeral home, a radio station, a church accessory, a community commercial rezoning, an amendment to a Planned Development, and City of Valdosta sign regulations changes.

Videos: votes on decisions already made, and paving Black Road, Naylor? @ LCC Regular 2015-09-08

They meet again today. Here are videos of when they voted last, after apparently already deciding before the meeting how they would vote, plus one citizen spoke for several in the audience who want their road paved (Black Road near Naylor), even though the Chairman said “we kind of minimize that dialog”. County Manager Joe Pritchard again reminded of the Annual 9/11 Memorial Service to be held 10AM Friday at Historic Courthouse,

Indeed they did not vote on the Roundabout Support. There was a bit of discussion on the water main to Lowndes Middle School to fend off suspected Valdosta annexation. Everything else they breezed through as fast as they could move, second, and unanimously vote, including the church rezoning and the two lift station pumps, on Bevel Creek and Coleman Road.

Building location, front yard, and flag size @ ZBOA 2015-09-01

2:30 PM today, building location next to Southview Cemetery, a front yard setback (my that’s an impressive porch!), and maximum size of a flag.

Here’s the agenda from the City of Valdosta’s website, plus links into the board packet on the LAKE website, courtesy of ZBOA member Gretchen Quarterman. I bet the city could put the board packet on their website just as easily.

Videos: Moody MAZ, Agriculture, Church @ GLPC 2015-06-29

At a very well attended June 29th meeting, the notorious TXT-2015-01 Moody Activity Zoning Districts (MAZ) ULDC text amendments got tabled again by the Planning Commission, but the Lowndes County Commission could take them up anyway at their meeting a month later. The Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce did oppose these changes in person (both their President and Chairman) after voting a resolution of opposition. Meanwhile, LAKE has laid out the board packet item from last time so you can get an idea of what’s going on and why, including links to the LAKE videos of the previous GLPC and Lowndes County Commission meetings where these MAZ changes were discussed.

Moody MAZ, Agriculture, Church @ GLPC 2015-06-29

This evening, the notorious TXT-2015-01 Moody Activity Zoning Districts (MAZ) ULDC text amendments are back on the agenda, for decision by the Lowndes County Commission a month later. Usually reliable sources say the Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce will be opposing some of these changes. Meanwhile, LAKE has laid out the board packet item from last time so you can get an idea of what’s going on and why, including links to the LAKE videos of the previous GLPC and Lowndes County Commission meetings where these MAZ changes were discussed.

REZ-2015-12 Martha Russ wants to zone to less density while REZ-2015-13 Clementine Miller wants more density. And in Valdosta CU-2015-02 Kelly Barcol wants a church in a Single-Family Residential (R-10) district.

Here’s the agenda. Continue reading

Solar energy is a part of God’s plan –Valdosta minister with rooftop solar

Early adopter Rev. George Bennett of First Christian Church of Valdosta gets creation care plus 8% return on investment in his 20 solar panels, just like the Savannah Georgia National Guard got two years ago from the same solar installer. Bennett is very well known around Valdosta and Lowndes County, Georgia, so his solar decision could be quite influential. If he didn’t even wait for the new solar financing law, solar must be something lots of people will want, especially when they see Rev. Bennett explain it in terms they understand.

Adam Floyd, front page, Valdosta Daily Times, today, 12 May 2015, Valdosta homeowner turns to solar power system, Continue reading

Videos: 1 church, 2 small, 1 subdivision @ GLPC 2015-01-26

Videos of the Planning Commission recommending Monday 26 January 2015. The Central Avenue Church of Christ wants to rezone 5.6 acres to Downtown Commercial, while the two small rezonings are on Old Pine Road and Skipper Bridge Road, plus Devine Subdivision on Tillman Crossing.
