There was some discussion in the 7-minute Monday morning Work Session of the Lowndes County Commission. They vote today (Tuesday) at 5:30 PM.
Regarding the Love’s Travel Stop Beer and Wine license, no public hearing is necessary if the license is for consumption off premises.
On 7.a. Pump Station Rehab, Chairman Bill Slaughter wanted to know how many lift stations the county has.
Utilities Director Steve Stalvey said the total number of lift stations is about 59.
Interestingly, the Chairman had trouble hearing him, as often happens when staff do not speak into their microphones.
Commissioner Scottie Orenstein said something, but I don’t know what, because he was leaning back away from his microphone. There was some discussion about bid prices, so apparently his question was about that.
Commissioner Mark Wisenbaker wanted to know whether this bid number was a good number. Answer: yes, it’s below the $2 million expected. County Manager Paige Dukes chimed in saying it’s within budget.
