Update 2023-02-15: New CEOs for Southern Company and Georgia Power 2023-01-09.
The future CEO of Georgia Power visited 5701 Quarterman Road in Lowndes County in 2019 to inspect a completely rebuilt methane pipeline station.

This, on my property, is where the Atlanta Gas Light (AGL) pipeline starts that goes to Homerville, GA, where in 2018 its gas blew up a coffee shop and sent three women to Shands in Gainesville, FL, with third-degree burns.
But the rebuild had nothing to do with that event.
Bryan Batson, CEO of Atlanta Gas Light, in the video refers to the “Quarterman Rule” by which AGL has gotten street addresses for many of their stations, starting with this one, because of my complaints that it took a long time just to get AGL’s phone answerers to understand where a leak was.
The rebuild was caused by me two years running hissing at Southern Company CEO Tom Fanning in the SO Stockholder Meeting about the loud noise that pipeline station made.
Hissing at SO Stockholder Meeting 2017-05-24
Nothing happened after the first time, May 24, 2017.
But the second year (2018), Tom Fanning turned to Kim Greene, then incoming as CEO of Southern Company Gas, and he said fix this. Eventually she did. Well, partly.
You can hear her on this second video saying Southern Company only owns half of Southern Natural Gas (SONAT), which still produces a loud noise.
And it turns out, according to her and Southern Company CEO Tom Fanning, SO does not own that specific SONAT station. So nothing has been done about stopping the endless hiss from the SONAT station.
AGL did produce the sound study, which showed that there was less sound, but they could not separate out the noise from the SONAT station.
At the 2019 Southern Company Stockholder Meeting I thanked AGL for this this station upgrade, and I characterized it as a gold-plated horse buggy in an electric vehicle world. I think they liked the first part. I’ll like it better if Southern Company ever gets SONAT to stop their station from hissing. I’ll like it even better when both companies take their pipelines back to Atlanta, as I told Kim Greene.

Kim Greene was then and still is chairman, president, and CEO of Southern Company Gas, but not for much longer.
I’ll come back to the changes at the top of Southern Company, but for now look at the two items I’ve boldfaced, with Kim Greene moving up to Georgia Power and James Y. (Jim) Kerr II succeeding her at Southern Company Gas.
