Longest at 2.5 minutes: appointment to Parks and Rec. Commissioner Scottie Orenstein was not present at this Regular Session of the Lowndes County Commission.
Not on the agenda and not on the county’s website, Chairman’s Announcement of Emergency Operations Center Open House.
The applicant spoke for 6.a. Beer, Wine & Liquor License – Jack’s Chophouse, 4479 N. Valdosta Rd. We have a winner for the RFP for Banking Services.
Maybe they all finally got to read the 7 d. Ordinance Adopting Current Board of Health Rules, since this time they passed it. No mention of the Chairman’s remark the previous morning: “We can see if we can get it in electronic form.”
Below are links to the LAKE video of each agenda item, followed by a LAKE video playlist. See also the LAKE videos of the previous morning’s Work Session, and the agenda

Chairman’s Announcement of Emergency Operations Center Open House
Video. This item isn’t on the county web site or calendar but there is a facebook event. County Clerk Paige Dukes gave a brief description of the event also. WTXL had already carried a story on it, and LAKE had blogged it. I (jsq) meant to go, but did not get there.
- 4. Minutes for Approval
-
5 a. Valdosta- Lowndes County Parks and Recreation Authority
Video. Commissioner Demarcus Marshall pointed out that his two recommendations, Hiram Johnson and Reginald Mitchell, both live in the unincorporated part of the county. Chairman Bill Slaughter nominated Bubba Highsmith, as originally planned. Marshall nominated Reginald Mitchell. For Bubba Highsmith, the Chairman said three Commissioners raised their hands. Only Mark Wisenbaker’s hand is actually visible, but presumably the other two were Joyce Evans and Clay Griner. Scottie Orenstein was not present. So Bubba Highsmith was appointed to VLPRA.
