Not on the agenda, County Agent Jake Price introduced two new people in his office. The Industrial Authority Executive Director explained the bonds are not new, she just wants to refinance them to reduce payments.
Among items they will vote on tonight at 5:30 PM, the longest item at almost four minutes was the request for an additional Deputy Coroner. Looks like they’re finally going to sign up an attorney for the opoioid litigation. They spent more time on the cleaning bids.

1. Call to Order ; Introduction of new County Agents
Video. County Agent Jake Price introduced new personnel Lynn Hall, new 4-H program leader since February, who retired from teaching school after 31 years, and Andy Carter, ag. agent, worked for “Coggins/Generation Farms” for ten years.

4. Valdosta- Lowndes County Industrial Authority Series 2018 Bonds
Video. VLCIA Executive Director Andrea Schruijer present. VLCIA Chairman Tom Call was also present. They want to refinance some old bonds to reduce interest rates and save $700,000. They may come back later and make a request for “some new dollars”.

6 a. Appointment – Valdosta-Lowndes County Airport Authority
Video. County Manager Joe Pritchard noted George Page got appointed to the Airport Authority by the City of Valdosta, so the only name left in nomination is Steve Everett. They last reappointed him May 13, 2014. By the way, he’s the Chair of VLCAA.

7 b. Additional Deputy Coroner Request
Video. Austin Fiveash went on for almost three minutes. The Commissioners wanted to be assured he didn’t need any new equipment. Current Deputy is Tommy Willis. About a thousand deaths a year in Lowndes County, about 400 investigated by the coroner’s office.

8 a. Bid for Exterior Cleaning for the Judicial/Administrative Complex
Video. After the bids were opened, the low bidder said he made an error (he left out rental of a piece of equipment for $10,000), but what he bid is what he bid.
