It’s great they’re talking early about the CDBG grant for Habitat for Humanity and maybe some others, but they can’t get any state or local grants until the county finishes feuding with all the cities in the county about tax distribution. They spent second most time on the Kinderlou Road CSX RR crossing closure. Seago rezoning was withdrawn by the applicant. For Emergency Manager Ashley Tye’s report on tornado damage, see the videos of the previous morning’s Work Session. See also the agenda.

5b. GA DCA – 2017 CDBG Direction – Habitat for Humanity Recipient
Video. While several other local organizations would like to apply, apparently only Habitat for Humanity met the criteria. They didn’t mention that the county still can’t get any state or federal grants until they finish feuding with the local cities about tax fund distribution.
- 5 c. Crossing Closure – Dasher Johnson Road
-
5 d. Crossing Closure – Kinderlou Road
Video. Nobody spoke for or against. However, the Chairman recommended installing a gate permanently closed to public traffic but locals could unlock it and get across. This is different from closing the crossing, which would result in CSX removing the crossing. CSX wants it closed, because with a gate somebody could still cross. The withdrew the first motion, which was to close the crossing, and made a second motion to have the property owner install a gate. The second motion was seconded and it carried unanimously.
