SAVE has a new website

Reminding everyone of what they do and what VSU President McKinney said, Students Against Violating the Environment has a new website.

S.A.V.E. is an environmental activist organization based on the campus of Valdosta State University (VSU). It is composed of students from all majors, and any VSU student is welcome to join regardless of race, gender, age, or sexual orientation.

The mission of the organization is to increase environmental awareness and engage students with the community while maintaining a voice in local, state, and national politics. We believe that environmentalism is a humanitarian cause and that our efforts will not only aid in conserving natural resources, but will serve to strengthen our community.

We are interested in promoting clean energy, recycling, and working to create a more sustainable campus.

And at the 15 November 2013 VSU solar canopy celebration Dr. McKinney said:

“This is a great first step …. So long as I am President, I am committed to developing a culture of sustainability on this campus. I do not believe for a moment that environmental sustainability and the long-term economic well being of the university are contradictory goals.”

Their website has details about SAVE’s fossil fuel divestment campaign, SAVE’s opposition to the Sabal Trail methane pipeline, events, and contact information, including links to resources and some excellent pictures.
