Both Meghan Duke (PR and Marketing) and Andrea Schruijer (Executive Director) invited comments and additional information for the new website. They were speaking to their board at its meeting last night, but in the Industrial Authority’s new conversational spirit, maybe they’ll take suggestions from the rest of the community, as well. Both Allan Ricketts (Project Manager) and J. Stephen Gupton (Attorney) said the Hahira well site work was going well. They’ve got a new intern, and I reminded them about the need for fast Internet access. It was a long meeting by County Commission standards, yet short for Industrial Authority meeting: about half an hour.
Here’s the agenda, with links to the videos, and a few notes.

Public Relations & Marketing Update-Meghan Duke
Maybe we should take her up on her offer:
We are going to go live onto the World Wide Web onto our new website. I’ll give you a tour of it. It is completed….
Any information you like additional on there, send it. I haven’t heard anything. But any time that there’s any information you think there’s any information you think we should have included added, send it to me. The behind-the-scenes administration of it is very easy. I can go in there and update it in two seconds.
Existing Industry/Project Report-Allan Ricketts
Among other things, he said they completed a Project Moody(?) RFP received last week; competing with nine states. And this:
We’ve got a logistics distribution transporation support project that came to us last week. This has a renewable sustainable energy piece to it for the fuels that […] to supply. How can it be renewable energy if it involves transporting fuels?
The Hahira well site project is proceeding according to schedule.
Business/Industrial Park Update- Allan Ricketts
Executive Director’s Report- Andrea Schruijer
It’s buildlowndes.com to incorporate the location into the domain name, but the old name will still work to find it. Norman Bennett recommended getting it in Georgia Trend magazine. Two conferences coming up starting end of February. And Georgia Classic to which they invite prospects. “A lot of activity going on,” she said. I’m looking forward to the new jobs all this activity produces.
Attorney Report
Looking at the City of Hahira well site agreement.
Citizens to Be Heard
- We have an intern! —Roy Copeland
Her name is Porsche Mathis. Ms. Schruijer said she would work on datasets, data gathering, and pictures.
- Congratulations on website; everyone would like fast Internet access —John S. Quarterman
I congratulated Meghan Duke on the new website, a pointed her to some suggestions already on the LAKE blog.
Regarding that slider bar at the bottom where you were waiting? That’s what a lot of people around here see as Internet access. It would be really nice if we had fast Internet access. Businesses would like that! So something you might want to add to your visible TODO list; just a thought.
The videos of the CEO of Steeda I mentioned are blogged here. As I mentioned, anyone can use them, provided they cite the source: LAKE.
