More people have now voted early in Lowndes County than any time in history. Sherrie Luther was voter 22,00[0]… People waiting to vote making her ballot the one that broke the previous record set four years ago.

In the 2008 presidential election, there were 45 days of early voting in Lowndes County. In this year’s election there were just 16 days. Nevertheless the record was broken.

Deb Cox is the Supervisor of Elections for Lowndes County. She said “the voting process, the democratic process.. this is the foundation of our entire country. Everything rests on this. If this process 23,324 early voted in Lowndes County, Georgia doesn’t work correctly nothing else does either.”

Well, as Deb Cox knows, there’s another complaint. Those voting machines say when you’re done that “your vote has been recorded.” But has it? precincts And for Tuesday there’s another issue: the ever-changing precincts. Canvassing last night, a popular question was “where do we vote?” You can look up your precinct and polling place, plus a sample ballot, on My Voter Page by the Georgia Secretary of State. If you have Internet access. Which a lot of poor people around here do not have. Or you can call the Board of Elections. But why do the precincts have to change so often?

Remember, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on that great election day, November 6th, at your precinct.

Vote! Several recent elections here have been decided by less than 100 votes. Your vote counts!
