VLCIA Board Meeting videos, 21 Dec 2010

Here are videos of the regular public board meeting of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Industrial Authority (VLCIA), 21 Dec 2010. I videoed almost everything, except when I was speaking or they were answering. More posts later on some of the astonishing points arising from this meeting.
Update 1 Jan 2010: more videos posted, with some comment. Still a few more to come.
Update 2 Jan 2010: All the videos are there now, and there’s a blog post with Dr. Teaf’s slides, along with video of Brad Lofton saying “no way shape or form”.

I’m sure that every VLCIA board member has the best interests of the community at heart. Several of them invited me to contact them with any concerns. I will take them up on that invitation, and you can, too.

Gary Minchew, Mary Gooding, Jerry Jennett (Chair),
J. Stephen Gupton (Attorney),
Brad Lofton (Executive Director)
They say they want public involvement, and they welcomed half a dozen other people who had apparently never attended a board meeting before, as well as some who had. Y’all come and help them out.

I attended at the invitation of board members Roy Copeland and Norman Bennett, but it’s a public meeting, so you don’t need an invitation. There’s no meeting schedule posted for 2011 yet, but the VLCIA Schedule page says:

All Meetings will be held at 5:30pm in the Industrial Authority Conference Room, 2110 N. Patterson Street, unless otherwise notified.
Do be sure to call first, (229) 259-9972, since a previous meeting I tried to attend they rescheduled and didn’t post the change on their website. Since these are public meetings, Georgia state law permits recording voice and video without needing permission.

Board members Mary Gooding and Jerry Jennett at that meeting invited me to contact them with any concerns I might have. I’m sure they’d welcome concerns from others in the community, as well. Here is their contact information:

Roy Copeland Gary Minches Mary B. Gooding Norman Bennett Jerry Jennett
Plus contact information for most local elected officials.

Here’s a playlist of the videos I took of this board meeting, and here it is embedded.

A few more videos are still to be uploaded; I’ll update this post then. Videos by John S. Quarterman for LAKE, the Lowndes Area Knowledge Exchange.
